The end, playground, hungry.

1. On Thursday I wrote "The End" on the finished first draft of my novel! I have actually completed a novel!! Yes it needs lots of work and editing, but the first draft, all 87000 words of it, is done.

2. Taking the kids to the Pod Playground up on the mountain. Warm sunny day with a breeze, surrounded by sky and grassy slopes and young arboretum trees.

3. Being very very hungry at lunchtime. Food tastes so good when you are starving.

Puppy rehomed, cheesecake, sleep in

1. Three months ago we got a puppy. He was a lovely little dog, but recently, for various reasons, we decided we couldn't keep him. I was very stressed about this, since he was very attached to us by then. But I posted an ad online yesterday and within hours had three calls. We met the first people today and they seemed perfect. So I feel comfortably sure that he has gone to a good home and will be happy there. It is a big relief.

2. Individual passionfruit cheesecake.

3. I know I can sleep in as late as I like tomorrow.

Fitting me in, shopping, compliment

1. I started on a CPAP machine for sleep apnoea a week ago but I am having some problems with the fit. I rang up this morning and they can fit me in today (Monday) to get it sorted instead of waiting until Friday when my follow-up appointment was originally planned for.

2. I took my daughter clothes shopping yesterday and we had a very (unusually) successful time. Eight items get her set up for autumn/winter, and in time for her school camp later this week.

3. We went to a fairly fancy restaurant on Saturday night (without the kids) that turned out to have mediocre food. Sunday night, tucking into my home-cooked roast beef, my husband wondered why we bother to eat out at all. Lovely compliment.

Fog, breakfast, computer game

1. I point out to the children that the morning fog is a lot thicker over the grass of the school oval than it was over the road.

2. I didn't have time to eat in the morning rush, I get home from walking the children to school and sit down with breakfast and a cup of tea, and a book of short stories.

3. One of my husband's birthday presents was a pre-order of a new computer game that is now available, ten days after his birthday. He (and the kids) are so excited that he'll be able to play it tonight.

Purple plot, clean carpets, singing and dancing

1. My husband ripped out some weeds in a little plot opposite our front door and planted a variety of flowers, with a theme of purple and white. We are having a heat wave this week, but I know he will diligently water them every day and maybe they will survive.

2. I vacuum (most of) the house and it makes such a difference.

3. The kids do some dancing to the Disney Just Dance game, and I sing along to the words on the screen. Both singing and dancing are lovely.

Game, prognosis, warm

1. My children are running around the house playing their made-up game. They are using mana crystals to fight the dragon Deathwing. Gee, I wonder where they get these ideas...

2. My mother had a recent diagnosis of breast and bone cancer, which was very scary. But she has started chemo and radiotherapy and is doing very well, the prognosis is good.

3. Sitting in a warm car after spending too long in a cool house.
