1. Dentist appointment over for another year. No cavities!
2. Cheese and vegemite in a fresh bread roll for lunch.
3. I forgot to take my shopping list with me today but I only missed one item - garlic.

Fitting me in, shopping, compliment
1. I started on a CPAP machine for sleep apnoea a week ago but I am having some problems with the fit. I rang up this morning and they can fit me in today (Monday) to get it sorted instead of waiting until Friday when my follow-up appointment was originally planned for.
2. I took my daughter clothes shopping yesterday and we had a very (unusually) successful time. Eight items get her set up for autumn/winter, and in time for her school camp later this week.
3. We went to a fairly fancy restaurant on Saturday night (without the kids) that turned out to have mediocre food. Sunday night, tucking into my home-cooked roast beef, my husband wondered why we bother to eat out at all. Lovely compliment.

Assembly, got it, puppy
1. My son's class are hosting the school assembly. They sing three songs and Aiden reads out his one-paragraph essay on why he loves Canberra. During the songs they all do choreographed movements, but Aiden really gets into moving his body.
2. After a slightly frustrating morning shopping I find both the present I wanted and my favourite cereal at another shopping centre. I had to get the cereal down from a very high shelf with a pair of BBQ tongs, but I managed it.
3. The new puppy that comes to school during the afternoon pick-up seems very taken with me for some reason. I wonder if I somehow resemble the breeders; the first humans it knew before it was sold. Or maybe I'm just a calm presence amongst the crowd of noisy children.

Shirt, lunch, violin
1. I'm looking for a pretty shirt or two for the holiday season. In one shop I waver over a very nice one but it is expensive and I say that I might come back later. Then I find a wonderful shop with much more reasonable prices and quirky items and I buy five. Five!
2. Lunch at my favourite Chinese restaurant after shopping.
3. A mini-concert at my children's school organised by their violin teacher after I asked her if they were having one this year. Eight or nine children play one song each. My daughter plays very well, a Christmas carol she has been practising. My little son, in Kindergarten and only learning for a few months, keeps making mistakes and is a little embarrassed, but proud after he has finished. His first real performance to anyone not family. He snuggles up to me while the last couple of children play their piece.

Bike, husband, shopping
1. Picking up my new bike - a Christmas present from my husband. The shop was only a 20 min walk from my house so I walked there and pushed it most of the way home then rode on the footpath for the last couple of blocks. I haven't ridden a bike for well over 20 years (I am 40 now) and I was quite nervous. With reason - I fell off the first time I tried to stop! Hurt my knee and palms. I felt about 5 years old, sitting on the ground trying not to cry. But I was very proud of myself for getting straight back on and riding the rest of the way. It is a lovely bike. They "built" it just for me as they didn't have any extra-small adult ladies' bikes in stock. I could have ridden the small, but my lack of skill made me want to be able to put my feet down easily. So in a week, at Christmas, I will have a lovely grey and pink pushbike with far more gears than I could ever use.
2. Meeting my husband for lunch and Christmas shopping. He works such long hours I don't get to spend much time with him these days. But holidays soon!
3. I think the Christmas shopping is all done (for me anyway, I think Tim still needs to help the kids buy some things for me) except for a few stocking fillers for our houseguests. I spent an hour this afternoon wrapping, so that is pretty much all done too. I love wrapping. Oo - I keep forgetting the ribbons I bought. I need to put some on the presents. We have a purple and gold theme this year, on the tree and with the wrapping paper.
