Park, Genius, GoT

1. Walking through the park on a chilly autumn day.

2. The Apple genius fixes the problem with my iPhone.

3. I haven't seen yesterdays episode of Game of Thrones yet. I can watch it tonight after the kids are in bed.

Painting, weekend, casserole

1. We spend an hour and a half at Games Workshop where the kids are shown how to paint miniatures. Jasmine's turns out surprisingly sophisticated. I practice my skills on an elven steed. It's nice to get back to a hobby I had before children took over my life.

2. Plans for the weekend come together and everyone knows what is going on.

3. Pork casserole with chilli and sage and lemon and falling-apart goodness.

Bed, TV, jumper

1. Snuggling down in bed on a cold dark morning.

2. Game of Thrones - season 5 episode 2!

3. I give in to the inevitable and put on a jumper for the first time this year. I'm not particularly excited about the upcoming Canberra winter, but my jumper is warm and cozy.

Sleepy, spicy, book

1. Jerked out of sleep, Tim answers the phone then hands it to me. "Someone called Aaron?" He says with a shrug. It is my brother, Darren. Still half-asleep, Tim didn't recognise the voice.

2. Last night's new recipe was a bit bland, but today's lunch of sumac chicken wings was full of flavour and makes up for it.

3. Lazy Sunday means I get to finish my book.

The end, playground, hungry.

1. On Thursday I wrote "The End" on the finished first draft of my novel! I have actually completed a novel!! Yes it needs lots of work and editing, but the first draft, all 87000 words of it, is done.

2. Taking the kids to the Pod Playground up on the mountain. Warm sunny day with a breeze, surrounded by sky and grassy slopes and young arboretum trees.

3. Being very very hungry at lunchtime. Food tastes so good when you are starving.

Puppy rehomed, cheesecake, sleep in

1. Three months ago we got a puppy. He was a lovely little dog, but recently, for various reasons, we decided we couldn't keep him. I was very stressed about this, since he was very attached to us by then. But I posted an ad online yesterday and within hours had three calls. We met the first people today and they seemed perfect. So I feel comfortably sure that he has gone to a good home and will be happy there. It is a big relief.

2. Individual passionfruit cheesecake.

3. I know I can sleep in as late as I like tomorrow.

Fitting me in, shopping, compliment

1. I started on a CPAP machine for sleep apnoea a week ago but I am having some problems with the fit. I rang up this morning and they can fit me in today (Monday) to get it sorted instead of waiting until Friday when my follow-up appointment was originally planned for.

2. I took my daughter clothes shopping yesterday and we had a very (unusually) successful time. Eight items get her set up for autumn/winter, and in time for her school camp later this week.

3. We went to a fairly fancy restaurant on Saturday night (without the kids) that turned out to have mediocre food. Sunday night, tucking into my home-cooked roast beef, my husband wondered why we bother to eat out at all. Lovely compliment.
